Red Devils on Fire: Manchester United Player Ratings vs Brighton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s winning run at Manchester United continued as his side secured a 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Old Trafford earlier today.

Paul Pogba scored from the penalty spot in the 27th minute, which was followed by Marcus Rashford’s brilliant solo effort to give the Red Devils a cushion of two goals at half time.

Pascal Gross reduced the deficit for Brighton, but eventually, it proved to be just a consolation for the visiting side.

Here are our Manchester United player ratings from what transpired earlier today.

David De Gea 6/10

The Spaniard had a quiet afternoon after a testing outing against Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday. Couldn’t have done anything about Pascal Gross’ goal.

Ashley Young 7/10

Young was a threat to the Brighton defence with his surging runs, and he also managed some good crosses.

Victor Lindelof 8/10

The centre-back was absolutely resilient at the back and it is good to see him improve with every passing game.

Phil Jones 6/10

Jones missed his header which allowed Gross to score. There were a few lapses in concentration from him.

Diogo Dalot 6.5/10

He operated as a makeshift left-back in the absence of Luke Shaw, and fared reasonably well.

Ander Herrera 8/10

Herrera made quick transitions from defence to attack and showed the willingness to knit the midfield together.

Nemanja Matic 8/10

Matic was spot on with his positioning most of the time, and he shielded the back line well. The resilience he provided allowed Paul Pogba to get forward.

Paul Pogba 8/10

The French international’s superb run of form continued as he won a penalty and scored from the spot. He was all over the pitch and had a brilliant outing.

Jesse Lingard 7/10

Lingard was shrewd with his movement and passes in the final third, and deserved to get a goal today.

Marcus Rashford 8/10

He scored a scintillating goal and marked his 150th appearance for the Red Devils in some style. Looked lively up front.

Anthony Martial 6/10

Martial had occasional moments of brilliance, but overall, he flattered to deceive and lacked the cutting edge.

Substitutions

Juan Mata 5

Mata was largely ineffective after coming on at the expense of Lingard on the 75th minute.

Romelu Lukaku 6

The Belgian striker catered to defensive duties as he imposed his physicality in the closing stages of the game after coming on for Martial late in the second half and held the ball well.

Matteo Darmian NA

He replaced Rashford in injury time.
