Swansea City are still unbeaten in the Championship (2W 2D) and will hope to return to winning ways against Bristol City today. Following two back to back draws against Birmingham City and Leeds United, Swansea boss Graham Potter will want his side to be more assertive in their approach.
Swansea – Team News
Swansea will be without Wilfried Bony following an ACL injury he suffered last season. But the ex-Manchester City forward is closing in on a full recovery and could be a key player in a few weeks’ time.
Declan John, the summer recruit from Rangers, has also been ruled out with a back injury while custodian Kristoffer Nordfeldt won’t be available for selection following a groin strain he suffered against Preston.

Defence
Erwin Mulder is expected to continue in goal following Kristoffer Nordfeldt’s injury absence.
The Swans backline is an amalgamation of youth and experience. 20-year-old academy prodigy Joe Rodon has replaced veteran Federico Fernandez in central defence following the Argentine’s summer switch to Newcastle United. Rodon will partner Dutchman Mike van der Hoorn at the back.
Kyle Naughton and Martin Olsson were the preferred fullback options last season and have managed to retain their place so far this season.
Midfield
Potter has mostly opted for a three-man midfield so far and he has decent options to choose from. Jay Fulton, however, has started all games this season as a holding midfielder and helped Swansea secure the three points against Preston.
Tom Carroll, meanwhile, should be brought back into the team to partner the Scotsman in place of Leroy Fer. Bersant Celina, the former Manchester City prodigy, has started the season brightly and should start as the attacking midfielder.
Attack
Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge are struggling to break into the first-team action ahead of youngsters Connor Roberts, Barrie McKay and Joel Asoro.
Jefferson Montero, however, is a decent alternative who has returned following a couple of brief loan stints and should be handed a start on the left flank.
Joel Asoro should be deployed on the opposite wing ahead of Roberts in order to rotate the options Swansea have. Scotsman Oliver McBurnie scored a brace against Leeds last gameweek and has now set the expectations high ahead of the tie.
