Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing out-of-contract winger Ryan Fraser ahead of the 2020-21 season.
Fraser last played for Bournemouth, and is now a free agent after his contract expired, bringing an end to his seven-year stay at the Cherries.
According to 90Min, Fraser has been courted by several Premier League clubs, including Leeds United.
The likes of Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, Brighton, and newly-promoted sides, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion, are all interested in the winger. North London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal have dropped their interest in the Scotsman, however.
The 26-year-old winger had a fine 2018-19 season where he racked up 14 assists and 7 goals in the Premier League, but couldn’t replicate that form in the 2019-20 season, as Bournemouth suffered relegation.
Ryan Fraser – An upgrade over the current crop?
Ryan Fraser is a fine winger, good passing ability, the vision and technical ability to pick out key passes in the final third.
He is a right-footed player who primarily plays on the left, drifting into the middle with his quick feet and speed. The Scotsman would be a good option for most Premier League teams in the bottom half of the table.
Fraser was a good fit in Bournemouth’s style of football, and was an important part of the Cherries’ success in the Premier League.
Leeds United would be the perfect place for him to resume his Premier League journey. Fraser’s work-rate, creativity, and ability to play in numerous positions make him a good fit for the Whites and their manager, Marcelo Bielsa.
The Yorkshire based outfit confirmed the return of 23-year-old Jack Harrison, who will spend his third season on loan at Elland Road. The Manchester City winger was exceptional for Leeds on the left, but Bielsa will need another option out wide.
Bielsa’s options on the left apart from Harrison were of average quality last season. Ezgjan Alioski briefly played on the left side of midfield, but it is better off using him in the left-back role or a left-sided midfield role.
Fraser could add competition to the wide positions, and would add the vital experience Leeds need ahead of the 2020-21 Premier League campaign. With the ex-Bournemouth winger available on a free transfer, Leeds United’s interest in him is a no-brainer.
