Leicester City have reportedly been linked with a move for Adam Lallana, whose contract with Liverpool expires in the summer.
The midfielder has been with the club since 2014, but the lack of playing time means he is expected to leave the club for regular football elsewhere.
As per the Telegraph, Leicester City will compete with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United for Lallana’s signature.
The report further states that Lallana’s relationship with Brendan Rodgers, the man who played a role in bringing him to Anfield way back in 2014, could help with a move.
Leicester City are also likely to finish in the top four and secure Champions League football for next season, that is another factor.
Since moving to Anfield in 2014, Lallana has made appearances for the Reds, and has scored 22 goals in the process.
Adam Lallana – Why he’d be a shrewd addition to Leicester City
Lallana has had a bit of rotten luck with injuries in the last few years which has pushed him down the pecking order at Liverpool.
In the early days of Jürgen Klopp’s tenure, Adam Lallana was a key member of the playing XI as his pressing, energy and ability on the pitch suited what the German wanted from his midfielders.
Leicester have a pretty settled playing XI, but Lallana’s arrival will give Rodgers the options to change things a bit.
A player with exceptional technical ability, Lallana can be used in a central midfield role, a number 10, or even as a winger. This season, he has evolved more as a player after being used in a deeper role by Klopp in pre-season.
Lallana has started just three games this season, but has played in several roles and has done well, which shows his versatility.
He is likely to get more playing time at Leicester considering the Foxes will most likely play European football next season. Rodgers will need a deeper squad, and having managed Lallana before, the player will not need too big an acclimatisation period.
For a free transfer, Lallana would be a pretty good addition to the King Power Stadium, and Leicester should push to sign him in the summer.
