3 low-key names who could play a big role for Liverpool next season

Quite a few teams have are taking notice of Liverpool’s impressive transfer business. While many have obviously pointed out how Jürgen Klopp has gone against his ethos of ‘not spending’ exorbitant fees to sign players, one thing everyone can agree on is winning the league without spending money is not easy.

Obviously, the example of Leicester City lifting the title without spending big money is there, but the chances of doing so are very little.

So far this summer, Liverpool have spent more than £100 million on players. They have managed to strengthen their midfield which looked a bit stretched at times and even with the departure of Emre Can, Klopp has a pretty good midfield setup at his disposal.

Of late, quite a few players have been linked with an exit. It’s natural that the club want to get rid of the deadwood.

In this article, we take a look at players who could have a big impact this season, unlike the last campaign.

#3 Daniel Sturridge

The biggest source of disappointment in the last three years has undoubtedly been Sturridge. His recurring injuries have upset quite a lot of fans and many feel the club should just move on and sell him.

Sturridge enjoyed a brilliant first two seasons with the club and nearly helped Liverpool lift the title with Luis Suarez.

The word generally associated with Sturridge is ‘IF’. If only he was fit, he could have made an impact. If only he keeps fit, he can make an impact. He would be a pretty good backup choice to Robert Firmino or be used against specific teams.

Though he is a different type of striker when compared to Firmino, Sturridge’s runs and movement in the final third is impeccable. His finishing is even better. Can he keep fit?

#2 Adam Lallana

A midfielder who once was a key cog of the Klopp geggenpress, Lallana’s minutes on the pitch were vastly reduced last season owing to a combination of bad luck with injuries and form.

Last season, he started just three games in what was an extremely start and stop season for the 30-year old.

Lallana has been impressive in pre-season and Liverpool will need his ability to provide the energy in midfield and ability to pick a pass in the final third.

#1 Nathaniel Clyne

Clyne had terrible luck with injuries last season as well. The former Southampton star was the first-choice right-back before a surgery due to a back issue curtailed his season.

He returned in April but so good was the form of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Clyne had to be happy with a role on the bench.

With a full pre-season before the upcoming season, Clyne will be Liverpool’s designated right-back as Alexander-Arnold will get an extended break following England’s World Cup exploits.
