Manchester United are the latest elite European team to show interest in teenage striker Erling Braut Haaland, who has made quite the impression this season for Red Bull Salzburg.
The Norwegian forward has been on a roll in the Austrian Bundesliga as well as the Champions League, which has attracted the interest of Europe’s best teams.
As per Dagbladet, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to reunite with the striker whom he managed at Molde in the Norwegian league.
Haaland is the son of former Manchester City defender Alf-Inge Haaland, who revealed recently that his son would be interested in a move to the Premier League.
The teenager has scored 26 goals in all competitions for Red Bull Salzburg in 18 appearances in all competitions. Haaland joined Salzburg in the 2019 January transfer window and has gone on an incredible goalscoring run this season. His contract with the Austrian club expires in 2023.
The 6’4″ striker won the Golden Ball in the Under-20 World Cup earlier this year, scoring 9 goals, despite Norway being eliminated in the group stage of the competition.
How will Haaland fit in under Solskjaer is he moves to Man United?
Haaland is quite a talent and has taken Europe by storm with his goalscoring exploits. The youngster is a tall and lanky striker who is deceptively quick, while also being very skillful to get away from defenders with his dribbling skills.
Haaland, despite his 6’4″ frame, is good with the ball at his feet and has scored very few goals with his head. He comes alive in the box and dispatches balls to the back of the net with his strong left foot.
He would be a great signing for Manchester United as he is a player who loves scoring goals which has been missing in the Manchester United team.
It will be interesting to see how Solskjaer would fit Haaland in his starting XI if he does sign him.
Anthony Martial has been given the striker’s role in the team, while Marcus Rashford is another option as well, although his place in the team seems to be on the left of attack.
Perhaps Solskjaer could move Rashford to a No. 10 role, while moving Martial to the left side, which would mean Haaland will get his preferred role up top.
With Solskjaer knowing the youngster’s game from having managed him previously, the Red Devils manager will know how to use him effectively.
