Leicester City could strengthen their squad in January with the addition of in-form striker Alfredo Morelos from Rangers.
The Foxes, who have had a phenomenal start to the 2019-20 season, are reportedly interested in signing the Colombian, who has been with the Scottish side since 2017.
According to TalkSport, Leicester could make a bid for the 23-year-old in January, to provide competition to striker Jamie Vardy.
Morelos was linked with a move to several clubs in the summer transfer window, but the move did not materialise. The Colombian, though, has expressed interest in playing in the Premier League previously, which could make this move happen.
Morelos joined Rangers from Finnish side HJK in 2017 for around £1 million, and his current deal with the Scottish side expires in 2023.
The Colombian has been in spectacular form since joining the club, scoring 70 goals and 26 assists in 117 appearances. Under Steven Gerrard last season, he had issues with his temperament on the pitch as he was sent off several times. However, the Colombian has worked on his discipline this season.
This season, he has found the back of the net 22 times in 26 games in all competitions. Morelos has played 5 times for the Colombian national team but has yet to open his account.
Alfredo Morelos would only make Leicester a better side
Alfredo Morelos has perhaps been one of the best signings in Scottish football in the last decade or so, as he has scored loads of goals and helped Rangers bridge the gap with Celtic. Morelos is a combative striker who is known for his feistiness, work-rate, and, most importantly, scoring goals.
A quick player, Morelos has good dribbling skills and likes to take on the opposition’s defence. The Colombian comes alive in the penalty box and uses his good close control, dribbling, and finishing skills to good effect.
Leicester, who have begun the season very well, need more depth in the attacking choices as Brendan Rodgers currently has just one quality centre-forward in Jamie Vardy.
Kelechi Iheanacho has not had many chances this season, and was overlooked last season too, which hints at him not being good enough for the Foxes. The signing of Morelos would solve that problem as he is a proven goalscorer, scoring plenty in the Europa League apart from in Scotland.
At 23, Morelos is still very young and he could be yet another exciting young player in this talented Leicester City squad that could challenge for big things in the next few years.
