Ramsey on the Bench – Team News, Predicted 4-2-3-1 Rangers Lineup vs Aberdeen

Rangers snapped a three-game winless run with a 1-0 victory at St Johnstone last weekend and they will look to build on that result when they host relegation stragglers Aberdeen on Saturday.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side were far from impressive against St. Johnstone, but managed to secure three vital points courtesy of a third-minute strike from Glen Kamara.  The win helped them keep pace with league-leaders Celtic, who they currently trail by three points.

Rangers have not tasted defeat in their last 18 home league matches, but Aberdeen will take heart from the fact that they held the Scottish champions to a 2-2 draw on their last visit to the Ibrox.

Rangers Team News

Rangers are set to welcome back Aaron Ramsey, who missed the last five games through injury. Ryan Jack and Filip Helander are also expected to be fit, but Ianis Hagi and Amad Diallo remain sidelined.

Goalkeeper

Rangers’ shutout of St. Johnstone marked goalkeeper Allan McGregor’s first clean sheet in six games. The 40-year-old is in the twilight of his career, but has managed to maintain his status as Rangers’ No. 1 ahead of Jon McLaughlin.

Defenders

Leon Balogun replaced Fashion Sakala for the trip to St. Johnstone and played an important role in the 1-0 win. He should keep his spot in central defence alongside Connor Goldson in the Rangers lineup.

Predicted Rangers Lineup vs Aberdeen

Captain James Tavernier is the first name on the Rangers teamsheet. The Englishman contributes heavily in attack and set-piece situations.

Calvin Bassey will likely start at left-back once again, keeping Borna Barisic out of the side.

Midfielders

Despite Aaron Ramsey and Ryan Jack’s return from injury, John Lundstram and Glen Kamara are expected to start in central midfield. Kamara scored the all-important winner against St. Johnston.

Joe Aribo will continue in the No. 10 role in the Rangers lineup.

Attackers

Ryan Kent will start on the left. The Englishman’s speed and trickery will be crucial against an Aberdeen side that will defend deep.

Alfredo Morelos should lead the line for Rangers. The Colombian’s form has taken a bit of a nosedive of late. He has not scored in his last four games in all competitions and will be looking to put an end to that streak on Saturday.

Scott Arfield has been used in a multitude of positions this season, ranging from holding midfielder to right-winger. He had a decent outing against St. Johnstone last time out on the right flank and should retain his spot ahead of Fashion Sakala.
