Celtic commenced their title defence in the best possible way as they secured a thumping 7-0 win over St Johnstone in their opening fixture in the Scottish Premiership at the Celtic Park.
Here are out Celtic player ratings from what transpired earlier today.
Scott Bain 7/10
The custodian was hardly tested in the game as his side dominated right from the very beginning.
Hatem Elhamed 7/10
Elhamed showed a lot of energy and intent down the right and thoroughly impressed in his debut game for the Scottish giants. However, he limped off just after the interval, which might be a cause of concern for his side.
Nir Bitton 7/10
The central defender was cool and composed at the back, despite the fact that the central defence is not his natural position.
Kristoffer Ajer 7/10
Despite the lack of threat from the opposition, Ajer imposed himself at the back and did well to deal with whatever was thrown at him.
Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo 7/10
Mbombo thrived on the left and showed a lot of intent while going forward.
Scott Brown 7/10
The veteran midfielder sat deep in midfield as usual and dictated the tempo of the game brilliantly. His passes were accurate and he shielded the backline well.
Callum McGregor 7/10
Alongside Brown, McGregor fared well and was solid in the middle of the park. He certainly looked comfortable with the ball at his feet.
James Forrest 8/10
Forrest was at the top of his game on the right-wing as he mustered a couple of assists. His productivity in the final third was exemplary.
Ryan Christie 9/10
Unarguably the best player on the pitch today, Christie scored a hat-trick and is likely to play an instrumental role for the Hoops this season.
Mikey Johnston 8/10
Down the left flank, Jonhston was on fire as he kept probing the opposition defence. He thoroughly deserved his goal.
Odsonne Edouard 8/10
With a goal and an assist, the striker has started his campaign in a stupendous manner and needs to carry on his form in the coming months.
Substitutions
Anthony Ralston 6/10
Anthony replaced Elhamed after the latter got injured early in the second period but couldn’t really impose himself on the pitch.
Leigh Griffiths 8/10
Griffiths not only assisted Edouard but also scored a goal after coming on and will challenge the latter for a place in the starting lineup.
Olivier Ntcham 8/10
Ntcham also scored a goal and bagged an assist as he dominated in all the sectors after coming on to the pitch in the second half.
