Brown Gets 8/10: Celtic Player Ratings From Their Win Against St. Johnstone

Celtic opened up a six-point lead over their arch-rivals Rangers after the Hoops clinched a hard-fought 2-0 win over St. Johnstone earlier today in the Scottish Premiership.

Goals from James Forrest and Timothy Weah in the second half helped Brendan Rodgers’ side to all three points against the Saints at the McDiarmid Park as the home side failed to get past Scott Bain.

Here are the Celtic player ratings vs St. Johnstone.

Scott Bain 7/10

The custodian pulled off a notable save in the first half and looked comfortable throughout the game.

Mikael Lustig 6/10

He might have been sound defensively but he hardly made any substantial impact with his attacking movement.

Jozo Simunovic 7/10

The centre-back was resilient at the back and didn’t have too many problems dealing with St. Johnstone’s attacking threat.

Kristoffer Ajer 5/10

A red card in the second half made it tough for his team later on. Did well until he was sent off, however.

Emilio Izaguirre 6/10

The left-back was good at going forward but he didn’t contribute anything spectacular.

Callum McGregor 6/10

McGregor was not able to impose his dominance in the middle of the park for a major portion of the game. However, he fared well late in the second half.

Scott Brown 8/10

Arguably the best player on the pitch for the Hoops, Brown won the ball back on many occasions.

James Forrest 7/10

He scored the opening goal for the visiting side after he started to make his presence felt in the second half before going off injured.

Ryan Christie 6/10

More often than not, Christie’s first touches were below his usual standards. Could have done better with his output.

Scott Sinclair 5/10

Sinclair was sloppy in possession. A forgettable outing.

Oliver Burke 6/10

The striker worked hard in the final third and came close to scoring on a few occasions.

Substitutions

Jeremy Toljan 6/10

He replaced Lustig at half time and showed what he can do with a few good offensive runs.

Odsonne Edouard 4/10

The Frenchman looked dangerous but picked up an injury soon and was subbed off.

Timothy Weah 7/10

He set up the opener for Forrest and scored himself in the final minutes to seal the game for his side. A fine start to his Hoops career.
