West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen to add a striker to his squad this summer, and the latest name on his list is Portuguese forward, Andre Silva.
After a rather average loan spell in La Liga, Silva is now back with his parent club AC Milan, but is expected to be sold this summer.
As per Football.london, Silva has been offered to the Hammers already, so it remains to be seen what the club’s decision will be.
Former West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic completed his move to Shanghai SIPG earlier this week, so Pellegrini needs to add at least one, preferably two strikers, this summer.
Andre Silva and His Style of Play
The 23-year old scored 17 goals in two seasons with Liga NOS giants Porto, before moving to Italy with AC Milan in 2017.
However, he struggled in Serie A, scoring just a couple of goals before he was loaned out to Sevilla at the start of the previous season. He was a regular in the first team at Sanchez-Pizjuan last season, where he scored nine league goals in 25 starts.
Known to be a devastating finisher, Silva is a technically brilliant striker, who loves to have the ball at his feet. He is not the strongest players around, but is more than capable of holding on to the ball and release pressure.
Silva is an excellent passer and has great vision, which allows his team’s wingers to make an impact on the game out wide.
The Portuguese international loves to play through defences at the edge of the box and playing around quality players like Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Pablo Fornals, he could genuinely grow into a dangerous player.
Right Man for the Hammers?
West Ham have lost one of its most important attackers in Arnautovic already this summer. They do have Javier Hernandez who can lead the attack for his side but don’t have any other backup players.
It is evident that Pellegrini needs a player who can walk into the first team next season, or even replace Hernandez who wasn’t the most consistent of players last season.
Silva, with 33 international caps and more than 100 league appearances in Europe, is certainly a player West Ham should look at.
With the likes of Felipe Anderson and Manuel Lanzini or Fornals feeding him in the attack, he could be a game-changer for the Hammers in the upcoming campaign, and the forward who they have been craving for.
Silva would also add a different dimension to the West Ham attack, and allow Pellegrini to further instil his style at the club.
