Arsenal are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund winger Jacob Bruun Larsen who has two more years left on his contract at the Signal Iduna Park.
According to a report on The Sun, the Danish winger who is valued at £15m has garnered keen interest from three of the top-6 sides in the Premier League in Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.
The 20-year-old established himself as a regular in the BVB starting line up during the last term and enjoyed a successful campaign with the German giants.
He scored 3 goals and managed 3 assists in 30 appearances across all competitions in the recently concluded campaign where they almost clinched the league title falling short at the very end.
A good option for Emery?
Larsen is one talented youngster who is quick, sharp on the ball and highly effective going forward.
The Danish International primarily features on the left-wing for both club and country but possess the ability to switch flanks and also play in an attacking midfield role in case the manager requires him to.
The Dortmund winger boasts excellent off-the-ball movement and great linkup play with the teammates. He averaged a pass success rate of 79.8% but a figure of 0.9 key passes per game across all competitions can be improved upon as this is a number which does not do justice to the threat which he poses.
The 20-year-old also has decent dribbling skills and shows huge confidence in the final third. He managed 0.7 dribbles and 1.1 shots per 90 minutes, which is not bad seeing he featured as a regular for his first full season in the top 5 leagues in Europe.
Although there are certain areas which need improvement, including his crossing, aerial prowess and long balls, Larsen remains a youngster with huge potential for the future.
However, the BVB forward contributed little defensively which could cause hindrance in his move to the Emirates seeing Emery’s preference for hard-working players in the starting XI.
Arsenal lacked the cutting edge at times last season and also lost star midfielder Aaron Ramsey to Juventus on a free.
To add to their misery, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi haven’t been up to the mark and too many inconsistent performances have left the north London club in dire need of another forward who could provide a much-needed spark in the final third which has been solely reliant on the goal-scoring prowess of Lacazette and Aubameyang.
The addition of the Danish International to the Gunners squad at £15m sounds like a wise decision seeing their limited transfer budget for the summer transfer window but only if they can fortify their defence which would lend a more balanced look to the outfit going into the new season.
