Liverpool considering a summer transfer for Argentine superstar: Ideal option up top

Liverpool are seriously considering a move for Juventus star Paulo Dybala, it has been claimed by reports in Italy.

Dybala has managed just 19 starts in the Serie A this season, and hasn’t made a substantial impact.

It remains to be seen if Juventus will be open to selling Dybala, but according to Calcio Mercato, Liverpool will do their part and might make a move for the Argentine in the summer.

The Reds have spent good money on players in the last few transfer windows, but have mainly relied on the money they’ve received from player sales and their deep run in the Champions League last season.

The club announced record profits earlier this year, and considering they are likely to beat Porto and make it to the Champions League semi-finals once again, the club will have good money to spend come the summer.

Dybala to Liverpool – A good choice up top?

When Dybala burst on to the scene with Palermo, many compared him to Lionel Messi because of his style of play.

At Palermo, Dybala often featured as a centre-forward and even though he was just 20, he showed incredible poise and composure which earned him rave reviews and a move to Juventus.

At Juventus, Dybala has always been able to impress in the Serie A and has amassed 77 goals in 175 games, but his performances in the Champions League always left a few sceptics.

This season, the Argentine international has managed five goals in the Champions League and has silence a few critics.

Dybala’s incredible versatility means he can be played on the right wing, and that’s something which would suit Klopp as the German has used Mohamed Salah in two roles this season.

This season, Dybala has played 11 games on the right wing and his goal return hasn’t been the best: just one. However, with the goalscoring burned now off his shoulders (because of a certain Cristiano Ronaldo), the Argentine has played a role in the build-up play more than previous seasons.

The 25-year old has managed an average of two shots per season, which is almost half of what he managed last season in the Serie A. However, the massive dip in goals – from 22 in 26 starts last season to just four in 19 starts – is a bit worrying.

Dybala has, however, shown what he is capable of, is at the peak of his prowess, and the switch to a more open league would help him score more often, as has been the case with Salah.

Roberto Firmino has done well to link up play, even though he hasn’t set the league on fire with his goal-scoring output, and that’s where Dybala might be an upgrade.

The Reds are will most likely have to break their transfer record for the player, however.
