After a more or less comfortable win against Huddersfield Town, Newcastle United will take on Burnley on Tuesday in what is another big game at the lower end of the table.
The two teams are separated by just two points in the Premier League table, and a win for the Magpies will take them above Sean Dyche’s side.
Burnley picked up a gritty win against Tottenham Hotspur in their last league game, and are currently on an eight-game unbeaten run in the league that has seen them picked up five wins and three draws.
Newcastle know it won’t be an easy game, but Rafa Benitez’s side are themselves in a good run as they have performed well of late.
The game against Huddersfield saw Newcastle hit the woodwork four times, so the scoreline could have been a lot more one-sided.
Newcastle United Team News
Paul Dummett and Ki Sung-yueng were on the bench against Huddersfield. Mo Diame also featured in a friendly game for the Magpies before their clash against Huddersfield, and is fit.
The trio are expected to be available for the clash against Burnley, but it remains to be seen if Benitez will rotate his midfield after the excellent performance against Huddersfield on Saturday.
Predicted Newcastle United Lineup vs Burnley
Defence
The trio of Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles and Florian Lejeune are expected to start once again, and are likely to face a bigger threat from the duo of Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes than what Huddersfield offered.
Wood and Barnes are impressive in the air, and the three centre-halves will have to be on their toes come Tuesday.
Paul Dummett might return to the Newcastle United lineup at the expense of Matt Ritchie in the left wing-back position, while DeAndre Yedlin might keep his place at right-back.
Martin Dubravka had a comfortable game against Huddersfield, but might have a more busy evening against Burnley. He should keep his place in goal.
Midfield
Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden were excellent in midfield against Huddersfield, and it’d be a surprise of the two don’t retain their place. Longstaff was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet as his late curler hit the woodwork.
Miguel Almiron showed what he is capable of as he combined well with his teammates and always looked to attack when he got the ball. The record signing should keep his place on the left, while Ayoze Perez, who scored in the last game, is expected to feature on the right.
Attack
Salomon Rondo scored the opened in the last game, but he could have finished the game with more than just the one goal. He should keep his place up top.
