Murphy Out; Saint-Maximin In: 4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted XI vs Man United

Newcastle United travel to Old Trafford on Sunday to face Manchester United, hoping to make it three wins on the bounce in the Premier League.

The Magpies have scored nine goals in their last two games, dismantling Fulham and Brentford respectively. They are unbeaten in four games and a good run of form has seen Eddie Howe’s side climb up to sixth on the table, only a point behind their weekend’s hosts.

Having thrashed Brentford 5-1 last time out, the Toon Army will head to Manchester in great spirits as they look to pull off an upset.

Newcastle United Team News

Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Jonjo Shelvey have both been ruled out of Sunday’s match against Man United. Isak has been injured since withdrawing from the Sweden squad last month, while Shelvey is yet to kick a ball this season due to a hamstring injury suffered during the pre-season.

Predicted Newcastle lineup vs Man United (4-3-3)

Goalkeeper

Nick Pope has done well since joining Newcastle United in the summer, and should keep his place in goal on Sunday.

Defence

As for the defensive unit, Eddie Howe will retain the same back four that started in the win over Brentford last time out. Fabian Schar should resume his centre-back partnership with Sven Botman, with Kieran Trippier and Dan Burn operating from full-back positions in the Newcastle lineup.

football formations

Trippier and Burn will get the license to bomb forward and attack Man United down the wide areas, but the duo must also stay defensively strong.

Midfield

Up ahead in midfield, Bruno Guimaraes is a guaranteed starter in the Newcastle lineup. The Brazilian helps keep the play ticking from a deeper position with his passing skills and reading of the game.

With Bruno sitting at the base of the midfield in the Newcastle lineup, Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff will get the freedom to go forward and make late runs into the box. As advanced 8s, Willock and Longstaff must also create meaningful opportunities for the forwards in the final third.

Joelinton and Ryan Fraser could get involved off the bench in the second half if required.

Attack

Allan Saint-Maximin returned from injury last weekend and was a livewire off the bench against Brentford. The flashy French winger should return to the Newcastle lineup on Sunday, joining the likes of Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron in the final third.

The trio of Wilson, Saint-Maximin and Almiron possess enough in their lockers to cause plenty of problems to the Man United backline on Sunday.

Chris Wood could be a good option to have on the bench if Newcastle are chasing a goal or two.
