As per one of the latest reports by Stoke-On-Trent-Live, Stoke City are in the race to sign Real Madrid wonderkid Martin Odegaard. Apparently, Heerenveen are the favourites to land him, although Vitesse and Stoke City’s rivals Aston Villa have also been linked with him.
A few years back, Odegaard was deemed as one of the most attractive young guns in the game. When the Norwegian was on the books of Stromsgodset, he broke into their first-team at the age of 13. He moved to the ranks of Real Madrid three years ago but he has managed to muster just 1 appearance for them so far.
Odegaard spent last season on loan with Heerenveen and he scored 2 goals in 24 appearances for the Eredivisie side. Real Madrid are keen to ship him out on loan once again to ensure that his developmental process stays on the right track. In all fairness, a temporary move to Stoke City would make a lot of sense.
Gary Rowett’s side need midfield reinforcements and the 19-year-old would be an exciting addition. He would bring energy and freshness into the ranks of the Potters and if he manages to make his presence felt in the second tier of English football, his credentials would certainly get enhanced considerably.
