Steven Gerrard has been shrewd in his endeavours ever since he was appointed as the manager of Rangers earlier this summer. He has already lured the likes of Connor Goldson, Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Jamie Murphy to the Ibrox Stadium and with the summer transfer window due to close on 31st August, some more additions might take place.
One of the players who have been heavily linked with the Scottish giants has been Liverpool’s striker Dominic Solanke. Rangers have been reportedly keen to churn a loan deal for acquiring the services of the 20-year-old who isn’t expected to get regular game time this season if he stays at Liverpool. However, nothing concrete has materialized so far.
Speaking at his press conference about the likelihood of Solanke’s entry into his ranks prior to his side’s clash against St Mirren on Sunday, Gerrard replied: “It’s speculation, it’s just speculation.” Although the former Liverpool skipper has brought 11 new players, signing another striker will make a lot of sense.
The Light Blues struggled to find the back of the net last season and despite the fact that they have had a good start under Gerrard, the campaign is long and depth in the squad will be needed. At the moment, Umar Sadiq and Alfredo Morelos are the only recognised strikers on the books of the Gers.
