Crystal Palace might have lured Cheikhou Kouyate, Vicente Guaita, Max Meyer and Jordan Ayew to their arsenal during the summer transfer window but they were very close to losing their dazzling star Wilfried Zaha. The Ivory Coast international was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
Thankfully for the Eagles, his exit didn’t materialize and the scenery involving Zaha gets even better as he has signed on a contract extension with his current employers. The 25-year-old has consented to commit his future to the Selhurst Park until the summer of 2023. For Roy Hodgson’s side, it is unarguably a massive sigh of relief.
After signing the extension, he said: “I’m very pleased. Obviously, I just wanted to get it over and done with, so I can just focus on the season. I’m buzzing that we managed to get it sorted.” Zaha scored 9 goals and garnered 3 assists for his side last term in 29 Premier League appearances and helped them in finishing at the 11th spot.
The former Manchester United man has started the ongoing campaign in a stupendous fashion as he managed to find the back of the net in Crystal Palace’s 2-0 win over Fulham in their opening league fixture. The South London based outfit are due to host Liverpool in their next fixture on Monday.
