As per one of the latest reports by The Express, Chelsea are in the initial stage of negotiation to prise Watford’s star, Richarlison, out of the Vicarage Road. However, the move will not happen this month and according to Goal, the Blues have held talks with the player’s agent, Guiliano Bertolucci, about a potential deal during the summer transfer window.
Richarlison rose through the youth ranks of Real Noroeste and America Mineiro, before being promoted to the senior side of the latter. After a productive season with them, he was signed by Fluminense, wherein he stayed for eighteen months. He was signed by the Hornets in the summer for a fee of around £11.5million, as per one of the reports by The Guardian.
The Brazilian has been one of the most productive players in the Premier League so far this season, having smashed 5 goals and has also made 4 assists in 23 appearances. The manner in which he has acclimatized himself amidst the animosity of the English top division football is simply exemplary and no wonder he has appeared on the radar of Antonio Conte.
Chelsea are placed at the 4th spot in the league table with 47 points to their name after 23 games. The Pensioners are an ambitious club and given that Manchester City are currently running away with the Premier League title, they would certainly look forward to coming back stronger next season. Thus, their pro-active measure to sign Richarlison makes sense.
The 20-year-old is capable of plying his trade on either wing, as a striker as well as a central attacking midfielder and it is his versatility that appeals the most. He is good in the air, is strong and well-built and is someone who has shown immense potential and calibre despite his young age. The blossoming starlet is quick, reads the game intelligently and contributes adequately to the defensive needs of his side.
Although the Brazilian is very weak at holding the ball, needs to learn how to cross the ball well and has to enhance the quality of his passing considerably, it has to be kept in mind that he is still young and is likely to get better in the coming seasons. By bagging more experience this season under the tutelage of Marco Silva, he should be able to brush himself up further and it would be intriguing to see whether Chelsea actually make this move happen in the summer or not.
