Inter Milan are eyeing a raid for Manchester United target and Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen in the January transfer window, as per reports.
Eriksen had an unsettled summer in north London as he wanted a move away from the club, but a move didn’t materialise. Manchester United were linked with a move for Eriksen, but the player was keen on joining Real Madrid instead, so a move to Old Trafford didn’t transpire.
Now, with summer transfer window done and dusted, Inter Milan will look to sign Eriksen on cheap come the January transfer window.
Eriksen’s contract expires in July 2020, which means the club will be forced to sell him for cheap in January or risk losing him for free come the summer.
Daniel Levy is known for his hard negotiation, but even he is unlikely to have a big say as the ball is really in Eriksen’s court, and should the club not sell him in January, the Dane will have the last laugh by leaving for free next summer.
Eriksen the perfect fit for Inter Milan
Eriksen has had an impressive spell in the Premier League, and with Antonio Conte now in charge of Inter, he could become a key player should he move there.
Conte’s three at the back system does not have a natural number 10 as he plays a flat midfield three, but considering Eriksen has adapted his game under Mauricio Pochettino to play in a withdrawn role as well, he could be a good fit.
Eriksen would provide a lot more creativity to the Inter side, and with players like Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez ahead, the Nerazzurri could be a real force and finally end Juventus’ dominant run.
Since joining Spurs in 2013, Eriksen has gone on to make 281 appearances for the club, and has scored 67 goals in the process.
