Manchester United Could Have A Chance To Bid For Danish Superstar: Should Ole Make A Move?

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on selling Christian Eriksen in the January transfer window and not allow him to leave on a free transfer in the summer. The Danish midfielder’s current deal with the north London club expires in the summer and he is also set to leave after six years with the club. Eriksen will be allowed to have pre-contract discussions with foreign clubs in January to leave on a free in the summer and that is something Spurs will want to avoid.

According to Evening Standard, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wants to sell Eriksen in January and will accept bids under £40 million. As per the report, Eriksen was offered a deal in excess of £200,000 a week which he has rejected, and the Danish star has reportedly made it clear that he wants a new challenge and his preference is to play in the Serie A or La Liga.

Christian Eriksen has made nearly 300 appearances for the north London club, scoring 68 times and providing 88 assists for them.

Should United make a move for Christian Eriksen?

Manchester United certainly need a midfielder to add creativity to their midfield. Eriksen would certainly fit the bill as he has the talent and technique to unlock defences with his passing, while also contributing goals to his side.

The Danish player is just 27 years of age and has at least 5 good years remaining at the top of his game, while his Premier League experience will make him a solid signing for United.

But, would Christian Eriksen want to join United?

The Red Devils are struggling and need several players – and perhaps even a new manager – to take them to the top of the league once again. Eriksen has also made it clear that he wants a new challenge away from the Premier League.

United can only throw in a lot more money in terms of wages at him if the likes of Real Madrid enter the race to sign him. That would set a bad precedent for United, who have previously been criticised for paying over-the-odds for players, like Alexis Sanchez.

Even though it is true that Eriksen would be a far better option than the likes of Andreas Pereira, Jesse Lingard or Juan Mata in the No. 10 role for Manchester United, Ole should make sure they do not commit a blunder akin to that of the Sanchez signing which happened under the previous manager Jose Mourinho.

United have shown recently they are willing to take risks and wait for success rather than chasing any short-term goal and should ideally wait till the summer before taking any decision which will have an impact in the long-term.

helpful than ever before.
