Premier League Matchweek 3: 5 Things To Look Forward To As Liverpool And Arsenal Fight For Top Spot

We are done with the first two Matchweeks of the 2019-20 Premier League season, with Liverpool and Arsenal at the top of the table followed by the two Manchester clubs.

Premier League returns this Friday as Everton travel to Villa Park to face Aston Villa.

Let’s take a look at 5 things to look forward to in Matchweek 3 of the Premier League:

Battle between the top 2

Arsenal and Liverpool are the only two sides in the Premier League to have notched two wins in two games, and they will face off at Anfield on Saturday. Both sides have exciting attacking players and two managers who like to play exhilarating football which makes this match a must-watch!

The Gunners lost 5-1 and 4-0 in their last two visits to Anfield in the Premier League but will hope to take away at least a point on Saturday.

Opportunity for Brighton to go to the top

Brighton have had a dream start to their Premier League campaign under manager Graham Potter, winning 3-0 against Watford at Vicarage Road, followed by a 1-1 home draw against West Ham United. The Seagulls play Southampton at home on Saturday, who have lost both games of the season and sit in 19th place.

If results in other matches go their way, and Brighton score a few goals (they have a goal difference of +3 – two less than Manchester City, who are in third) against Southampton, Potter’s side could go to the top of the Premier League table!

Tottenham, Everton, Bournemouth, and Sheffield United are also on four points, but their goal differences make it tough for them to go on top if other results go in their favour.

Joao Cancelo’s debut

Manchester City’s big summer signing Joao Cancelo is yet to play for the club, despite being a part of the squads that played against West Ham United and Tottenham. Pep Guardiola’s side play Bournemouth away from home and we could possibly see the debut of the exciting full-back against the Cherries on Sunday.

Cancelo could come in for Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back, who seemed to struggle with an injury at the end of the match against Spurs. Although Cancelo is primarily a right-back, the 25-year-old can play at left-back too.

An exciting game at Carrow Road

Norwich City played fearless football in their return to the Premier League against Liverpool in the first game of the season, and then convincingly defeated Newcastle United, thanks to a hat-trick from Teemu Pukki. Norwich host Chelsea on Saturday, and we could be in for an end-to-end game, with Frank Lampard’s young guns taking on a Norwich City team that have come to the Premier League to play inspiring football.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka against his old club

Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has had a great start to his Manchester United career, putting in good performances against Chelsea and Wolves. On Saturday, he will face off against his old club, Crystal Palace, who travel to Old Trafford after a defeat against Sheffield United.

Wan-Bissaka will have a tough game against former team-mate and Manchester United player Wilfried Zaha, which will be one of the top battles to watch in the Premier League.
