Portuguese attacking ace admires Liverpool’s style: Should the Reds move in for him?

Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes expressed his admiration for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side in his blog ‘De Cadeirinha’.

According to a report from the Record, the Portuguese International wrote his analysis of how Liverpool play under Klopp, and has showered praise on the players and the German’s style of play, highlighting how they overturned the 3-goal first leg deficit from Camp Nou to make it to the final and eventually win the Champions League.

The 24-year-old, who has been on the radar of both Manchester clubs, also expressed his admiration for Pep Guardiola and how he sets up his Manchester City side.

Bruno was a key player for the Sporting as they lifted back to back league cups. The Portuguese International managed 32 goals and 18 assists in 53 appearances in all competitions.

Should Liverpool make a move for Fernandes?

Klopp has assembled a world-class squad, but to improve the quality, there have to be certain departures and new arrivals. There will be arrivals and departures at Anfield in the summer, and one of them could be Fernandes.

The Sporting Lisbon midfielder is a versatile player who predominantly features as an attacking midfielder, and also has the ability to feature in a deeper role. Klopp usually deploys a 4-3-3 set-up with the midfield trio offering the energy and work-rate for the front three to do the scoring.

With the inclusion of the 24-year-old, Klopp could tweak his formation from time to time and surprise the opposition using Bruno’s flexibility. A 4-2-3-1 looks like the best bet with Bruno playing as a number 10 with a double pivot behind him, allowing him the freedom to attack.

The addition of the Portuguese could also help Roberto Firmino as he can enjoy more time closer to the goal and in the penalty box rather than drop behind as a false nine, which affected the number of goals he eventually scored.

Bruno can open up any defence with his passing ability, and he does possess the ability to take on defenders and create something out of nothing.

The Portuguese averaged 2.7 key passes per game, so he is a big threat to defences. He also possesses a set-piece threat, owing to his impeccable crossing ability, while the number of goals he managed shows he has composure in front of goal.
