Crystal Palace have had a host of problems in the attacking department this season, with the club missing out on the services of key attackers through injury during the first half of the campaign.
Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham have struggled with frequent spells on the sidelines, with Benteke in particular unlikely to return before the turn of the year due to his knee problem. Thus, coach Roy Hodgson might be keen on bringing in attacking reinforcements in the upcoming January transfer window.
Here are three strikers the Eagles should target this winter.
Krzysztof Piatek
Krzysztof Piatek would be an ideal addition to Crystal Palace in every sense. The Polish international has lit up the Serie A since moving from Cracovia Krakow in the summer, scoring nine goals in 12 appearances – meaning he has outscored the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain amongst many others so far this campaign.
The Genoa star is a definition of a complete forward, who thrives in physical duels but is also quite lethal in front of the goal. Although his dexterity on the ball needs finetuning, he is perfect for a team like Palace, who often play on the break with the pacy wingers they possess.
However, Piatek will likely attract a huge price-tag, especially with so many clubs across Europe interested in bagging his services this January.
Edin Dzeko
In recent weeks, AS Roma superstar Edin Dzeko has emerged as a shock target for Crystal Place with the Bosnian reportedly keen on returning to the Premier League.
A former Premier League champion with Manchester City, Dzeko has been prolific for AS Roma, scoring 80 goals in 154 appearances in all competitions for the Giallorossi. He is a typical PL forward, who thrives in the air whilst boasting an excellent scoring record.
In addition, his previous exposure in English football makes him an even more appealing target for the Eagles given the fact he is unlikely to take time settling into the Premier League.
Patrick Schick
Patrick Schick is another AS Roma striker who could be an ideal fit for Crystal Palace. The Czech forward has struggled since leaving Sampdoria last summer, playing less than 1,000 minutes in his debut campaign with Roma.
This season has been no exception either, with the 22-year-old appearing in only 295 minutes of league football, during which he has scored only one goal.
That being said, Schick is an extremely talented individual who is brimming with technical prowess in the final third. His ability to drift past opposing attackers fused with his tenacity makes him an interesting fit for the Eagles while he is also blessed with sheer pace as well.
