On Saturday, Liverpool dropped points for the first time in the Premier League this season after they drew 1-1 with Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge. At the moment, the Reds are placed at the 2nd spot in the league standings with 19 points to their name after 7 games.
Under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool made their way to the final of the Champions League last season but were eventually beaten by Real Madrid. Loris Karius’ mistakes had a big role to play in their defeat, but there is no denying that Klopp’s side really impressed last term.
On Wednesday, Liverpool are due to face Napoli in the group stage fixture of the decorated Champions League. Liverpool had thrashed the Italian giants 5-0 when the pair met at the Aviva Stadium in the pre-season friendly and Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti heaped praise on Liverpool in his pre-match press conference.
Ancelotti said: “Liverpool have improved a lot, they managed to reach the final last year and they started the season very well. I think they have become one of the strongest teams in Europe. They have a great physical condition, they play with intensity and so they manage to overcome the challenges of the Champions League.”
