Tottenham Hotspur Eyeing A Move For Colombian Sensation: A Shrewd Choice?

Tottenham Hotspur have joined FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race to sign Juan Quintero, as per latest reports from TransferMarketWeb. The Colombian attacker has put in ground-breaking performances for his nation in the ongoing FIFA World Cup, which has impressed the onlookers of the coveted competition.

Having already been linked with two of the biggest clubs in European football, Quintero is enjoying a significant growth in his stock with Tottenham emerging as the latest club to vouch for his services.

Quintero, 25, spent his time playing for River Plate last season. But his performances in the Argentinian top flight were disappointing, to say the least as he scored only one goal in 16 appearances in all competitions. The Colombian failed to make himself a regular fixture for the Argentine giants with some even calling him to be excluded from Colombia’s roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

However, the 25-year-old has silenced the critics with his blazing performances in the group stages. Initially being given the responsibility to deputize for James Rodriguez in the opening game against Japan, Quintero showed his true qualities with a stunning performance. Although Colombia did end up losing the game 2:1, his clever free-kick was the highlight of the game as Los Cafeteros put up a decent performance despite an early red card.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are poised for a busy transfer window ahead with head coach Mauricio Pochettino eager to strengthen his side’s offensive department. Even though the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen all enjoyed a terrific campaign last term, the Lilywhites are lacking depth in that respective department.

New signing Lucas Moura is yet to get his feet sorted out in the English top flight, having made only a handful of appearances since joining the club earlier this year. In addition, Argentine winger Erik Lamela is also facing an uncertain future with the club amidst interest from his former club AS Roma.

Thus, the addition of a top-class attacker could be imperative for Spurs this summer as they plan to pose a strong threat for the title next season. Juan Quintero, in that case, could be an ideal addition to the club considering the fact that the 25-year-old has once again shown his worth at the highest level of football. And with the way he’s been playing of late, very few would want to bet against the Colombian replicating his performances in the Premier League next season.
