Watford are a club with a strong network of scouts who vouch for talents all over the world. Their owners had garnered rich experiences during their time at Italy and Spain. The Hornets have been really befitted from the inputs that their observers have provided and one of the latest names to have fallen on the radar of the club is Palermo’s midfielder, Igor Coronado, as per one of the latest reports by Watford Observer.
Coronado had spent four years of his youth career with Milton Keynes Dons before moving to the youth academy of Grasshoppers in Switzerland. Although he couldn’t manage to make any appearance in the senior side of MK Dons, he accumulated immense knowledge and know-how about the game and English football. After spending six months in the reserve side of Grasshoppers, he moved to Banbury United.
After a brief spell there, he moved to Floriana and then to Trapani. Initially, he signed a loan deal and after he dazzled in the senior side of the Italian outfit, they signed him permanently. In the summer of 2017, he joined Palermo after the club was relegated from Serie A and has engineered a strong footing for himself in the Italian second division.
The Brazilian has made 28 appearances in Serie B and has managed to find the back of the net twice. Coronado’s versatility is arguably his strongest suit as he is capable enough of plying his trade as a central attacking midfielder, deep-lying midfielder as well as an out and out forward. He has become a major hit at Palermo and the fans grown a lot of affinity towards him owing to his productivity.
Under the tutelage of Javi Gracia, Watford are currently placed at the 11th spot in the Premier League table, having collected 36 points from 31 games. They are seemingly likely to finish inside the rendezvous zone at the end of the season. In the summer transfer window, Gracia is expected to remain busy to beef up his arsenal as there are lot of areas he needs to strengthen.
Although Coronado has made his presence felt in Serie B this season, Premier League is a different ball game altogether and it would not be easy to find his feet in the English top flight. Besides, he hasn’t plied his trade for any big club so far in his career and his move to the Vicarage Road would be seen with suspicious eyes. There is no doubt that the 25-year-old is a good player but signing him would involve a significant amount of risk.
