Crystal Palace Eyeing A £20m Transfer For Colombian Sensation | A Good Option For Hodgson

Crystal Palace are looking at signing a striker and have reportedly scouted Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos. The Colombian has been in superb form for the Scottish club since signing for them in 2017 and has caught the Eagles’ attention.

According to The Scottish Sun, Crystal Palace’s sporting director Dougie Freedman scouted Morelos personally this past week, with a few other clubs also interested in signing him.

According to the report, Palace could make a bid of around £20 million for the 23-year-old striker in the January transfer window.

Rangers would be reluctant to sell Morelos in the January transfer window and would rather sell him at the end of the season considering that have closed the gap on Celtic and will look to end their wait for the league title.

Morelos has continued his good form from last season, scoring 14 goals in 18 appearances this season, which includes Europa League qualifying games. He scored 30 goals in 48 games last season, and has 61 goals in 105 appearances for the Scottish club.

The Colombian’s current contract expires in 2023, having signed a new deal with the club earlier this year. Morelos has made three appearances for the Colombian national team, having made his debut in 2018.

Is Alfredo Morelos be a good option for Hodgson?

Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace side have done well so far in the Premier League, but it’s quite obvious that they need to add to their squads in the next few transfer windows.

Palace have a few strikers in their ranks, with the likes of Jordan Ayew, Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham, with Ayew being the most impressive of the trio.

Morelos is a prolific goalscorer, who has pace, energy, and a hunger to go up and down the pitch and score key goals. The Colombian is aggressive on the pitch – sometimes a little too aggressive, which has resulted in several bookings – but that is a part of his game that has resulted in his good form.

While the Scottish league may not be anywhere near as strong as the Premier League, Morelos has shown his good form in Europe as well, which should ease the fears of Palace manager Hodgson.

Morelos could be a very good signing for Palace in January, and is a player that could fit in very well in the hustle and bustle of the Premier League.
