Pogba & Greenwood On The Flanks: 4-2-3-1 Man United Predicted Lineup vs West Ham

Manchester United travel to London to face West Ham United in the Premier League today. The Red Devils had a forgettable outing against Young Boys in the Champions League opener, losing 2-1 to the hosts but will be eager to bounce back against the Hammers.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side can move to the top of the table with a handsome win and that will provide a huge fillip to the team of superstars who will be smarting from the midweek reversal. United defeated the Hammers thrice last season, twice in the league and once in the FA Cup, including a 3-1 win at the London Stadium.

Let’s take a look at the possible Man United lineup that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could put out against West Ham United.

Team News

Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani have been ruled out for the weekend’s game. Solskjaer revealed that Cavani will start to train following this weekend’s game. Alex Telles and Scott McTominay have returned to training and are closer to returning to the United first team. Phil Jones and Dean Henderson played an U23 game last weekend and could make it to the United squad, if required.

PREDICTED MAN UNITED LINEUP vs WEST HAM UNITED (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper

Dean Henderson is closing in on a return, but David de Gea should keep his place for the next few games and start in the Man United lineup.

Defence

Aaron Wan-Bissaka unnecessarily got sent off in the Champions League game, but Solskjaer could persist with him for this weekend’s Premier League game. Raphael Varane was a second half substitute against Young Boys, but he should return to the Man United lineup to play alongside Harry Maguire, with Luke Shaw at left-back.

Victor Lindelof will drop to the bench, while Eric Bailly and Diogo Dalot will be options for Solskjaer from the bench.

Midfield

Donny van de Beek and Fred started in the Champions League, with the former hauled off at half-time following Wan-Bissaka’s red card. van de Beek could remain on the bench, but the inconsistent Fred could retain his place in the team to try and keep a rampant West Ham team in check. Nemanja Matic – who started last weekend – should once again start in the Man United lineup.

Bruno Fernandes, who was also substituted in the Champions League game, should start in the No. 10 role. van de Beek and Jesse Lingard will be further options in the No. 10 role for the West Ham game.

Attack

Paul Pogba started on the left against Young Boys and he could start there once again in the Man United lineup. West Ham have been good in attack this season which is why the Frenchman may not be trusted to offer solidity to the United backline in central midfield.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Mason Greenwood should fill the other two positions in the United attack. The likes of Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial could be options off the bench for Solskjaer.
