Nuno Espirito Santo’s clan have rolled out as much as £35million, as per ESPN, to sign Silva who had spent his youth career at Portuguese sides Benfica and Porto.
Here is the scout report of the Portuguese Under-19 star who is currently making headlines following his blockbuster move to Wolves.
Fabio Silva – Scout Report
Naysayers might argue that Wolves overspent on a young player who has less than 1,000 minutes of senior football to his name but in all honesty, Silva is an incredible signing not only for the present but also for the foreseeable future owing to the remarkable characteristics that he possesses.
Coming from a family that is heavily involved with the game, Silva had been injected the love for football from a tender age. His father Jorge was a defensive midfielder who won the Primeira Liga for Boavista back in 2001 and his elder brother, also called Jorge, plays for Italian outfit Lazio.
An out-and-out striker with the pace to burn, Silva is a natural goal scorer and seems to exactly where the goal is. Owing to his towering height of 6’1”, he can be a threat to the opposition during the crosses and set-pieces and is a very competent finisher with a great understanding of the game.
Despite being in the early years of his career, his maturity belies his age. He is a technically gifted player who never shies away from linking up with his teammates in the final third. A good dribbler and a clever passer of the ball, Silva is generally not found to be hesitant to have a shot at the goal.
The 18-year-old, like any other modern-day striker, loves to press the backline of the opposition, and no wonder why Wolves have broken their transfer record to sign him. In spite of all his merits, he is far from being a finished product and has mountains to climb in the coming years.
Due to his directness in the attack and ability to manoeuvre smart movements on and off the ball, he could be a formidable option off the bench in the upcoming season for Wolves. Intriguingly, he also supports his team in defence and tracks back every now and then to carry out the defensive duties.
Silva is not amongst the strongest players to grace the game and considering the rough nature of the English top-flight, it will be difficult for him to cope up therein initially. Besides, he lacks experience and it is to be seen how Espirito Santo integrates the blossoming Portuguese prodigy into his ranks.
