Aston Villa Could Land Their Man For £20m: Should Dean Smith Push For A Move?

Aston Villa will want to add quality to their squad this summer, to help move up the points table in the new season and the latest name Dean Smith wants is Liverpool star, Rhian Brewster.

Reports from The Sun claim that Liverpool are open to selling the youngster for around £20m. Brighton, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Sheffield United are all interested in his services but Villa have the funds for this deal and could make a move before the start of the season.

Rhian Brewster hinted that he would like to fight for a place in the first team at Anfield but should Dean Smith make an attempt to bring him to Villa Park?

Rhian Brewster And His Career

Having announced himself to the footballing world after winning the Golden Boot in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017, Brewster is now regarded as one of the most exciting young strikers on show in England.

He is yet to make a senior appearance for Liverpool in the Premier League but was sent out on loan to Swansea City last season, where he only managed to polish his reputation.

A smart player whose positioning and finishing make him a dangerous presence in the final third, Rhian Brewster registered 11 goals in 21 Championship starts, scoring some match-winning goals for the Welsh side.

Brewster is an old-school striker, who loves to have the ball at his feet in and around the box. He can score from long range, can wriggle his way through opponents and test the keeper and is usually devastating, if afforded any space and time on the ball in the final third.

At 20, he will only improve the more he plays and lack of game time at Anfield could see him complete this move to Villa Park before the windows shuts.

Right Man For Villa?

Dean Smith lost the race to sign Callum Wilson from Bournemouth, who joined Newcastle United recently. Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham and Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard are also on the manager’s wish-list but Brewster’s age and price tag make him a decent option for the Villains.

The likes of Wesley and Mbwana Samatta struggled for consistency in front of goal and it is no surprise that signing a striker is a priority for Smith this summer.

Rhian Brewster scored thrice in two of Liverpool’s pre-season games exciting many at Anfield. But he will find it hard to break into the first team given the level the Reds are operating at under Jurgen Klopp and a move to Villa Park might be the best way forward for the youngster.

He now has enough experience to walk into the first team and with the likes of Jack Grealish at the top of their game, this might be the perfect opportunity for Brewster to make a name for himself in the English top flight.

His price tag makes him an even more attractive option for the club but do you think he is the right man for Villa?
