Crystal Palace have reportedly been linked with a move for Rangers star Glen Kamara, as Roy Hodgson is keen to add more depth to the squad at Selhurst Park.
According to 90min, Crystal Palace are among several clubs keeping an eye on Kamara this summer.
The report states that a couple of clubs are ready to pay up to £10million for Kamara, a player Rangers snapped up for a paltry £50k in 2019.
The Finland international has impressed for the Gers, but is he the right man for Crystal Palace?
Who is Glen Kamara?
The 24-year-old spent five years in London with Arsenal, but made just one League Cup appearance and failed to break into the first team. Kamara then moved to Scotland with Dundee in 2017, and his impressive development paved a move to Rangers in 2019, where he has progressed further.
Playing in a deeper midfield role, Kamara has become a regular in the Rangers first team. He has started in all three games for Rangers this season, and has helped the team to a perfect start.
A quick and athletic midfielder with a decent understanding of the game, Kamara is adept at breaking up play in the middle of the park. Cutting passing lanes and passing out from the back are his strengths, while his energy in the middle of the park would make the Rangers midfielder a valuable signing for Palace.
Right player for Crystal Palace?
Hodgson trusted Luka Milivojevic, James McArthur and Cheikhou Kouyate as his midfield three last season.
Palace often played with a three-man midfield, but had just James McCarthy as a backup for this role. This forced the manager to change systems when one of the players was unavailable or was out of form.
This is where Kamara can make a difference.
The Finland international has loads of experience, be it in the Scottish Premiership, and will not only add options to the squad, but will also push the Palace players for a place in the first team.
Kamara has shown in his time in Glasgow that he can play as a full-back or a wing-back if needed and this versatility will also hold him in good stead.
With 14 international caps to his name, Kamara is a first-team star for his national side as well, and could be a strong presence in the dressing room in the long run.
The only issue is Kamara is a regular at Rangers, and he might not play week in week out at Selhurst Park, at least in the initial few months, which could potentially hinder a move.
