Key Defender To Miss Out: Predicted 4-4-2 Everton Lineup vs Liverpool

Everton face Premier League leaders and city rivals, Liverpool, in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park later today. The Toffees are currently in 13th in the league table, and will look to make a late dash for the European sports with some good results in the remainder of the season.

Everton have not beaten Liverpool since 2010, and although they will be facing the best Liverpool side in years, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will look to take advantage of the break as Jürgen Klopp’s men might not be at their sharpest.

Before the league was halted, the Toffees suffered two defeats in three games, against Arsenal and Chelsea, while drawing against Manchester United.

Everton Team News

Carlo Ancelotti will miss out on a few key personnel for the derby against Liverpool. Midfielders Morgan Schneiderlin, Theo Walcott and Jean-Philippe Gbamin will not be fit for the game, Key duo Yerry Mina and midfielder Fabian Delph will also miss out.

Let’s take a look at the potential team that Everton could put out in the game against Liverpool:

Predicted Everton Lineup vs Liverpool

Goalkeeper

Jordan Pickford has been an ever-present fixture in the Everton starting XI, and he should start against Liverpool.

Defence

Considering Mina is not fit, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate could start at the heart of the defence. Lucas Digne will start at left-back ahead of Leighton Baines, while captain Seamus Coleman could start over Djibril Sidibe thanks to his previous derby experience.

Midfield

Andre Gomes should take up one of the central midfield slots, with either Tom Davies or Fabian Delph playing alongside him. The energy and work-rate of Davies could get him the nod over the experienced Delph.

Gylfi Sigurdsson will continue to play off the left for Everton, while Alex Iwobi could be recalled to the side in the right wing position.

Attack

Up top, it’s an easy pick for Ancelotti, as the duo of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, who have scored 23 goals between them, will start the game. Moise Kean could be an option for the Italian manager off the bench.
