The Spaniard could miss the clash, while Jamaal Lascelles, Ki Sung-yeung, Matt Ritchie, and Allan Saint-Maximin are expected to miss the game. Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett are doubtful as well.
Let’s take a look at the possible Newcastle United lineup for this game:
Predicted Newcastle United Lineup vs Everton
Goalkeeper
Martin Dubravka did not have the best of games against Manchester United, but he should continue in goal for the Magpies.
Defence
Newcastle United’s defence and midfield made several errors in the loss to Manchester United.
Either one of Clark or Dummett could replace one of the back three who started against Manchester United, if they are fit of course. Fabian Schär and Federico Fernández could get the nod to start at the back, with Dummett the most likely to return to the side after injury.
DeAndre Yedlin could replace Javier Manquillo at right wing-back, while Jetro Willems should return to his left wing-back spot.
Midfield
Both Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey were unused substitutes for the game against Manchester United, and we could see one of the two return to the Newcastle United lineup.
Sean Longstaff’s dreadful error, which gifted Manchester United a goal could lead to him being dropped, while his brother Matty may retain his place after scoring.
Matty Longstaff and Shelvey could start in midfield, with Miguel Almiron joining them to form a midfield three.
Attack
Andy Carroll was also an unused substitute against Manchester United, but he too could return, joining Joelinton up top.
