Brendan Rodgers’ incredible work at Leicester City sees the club currently occupy the third spot in the Premier League table, and they will look to continue that good run when they welcome a struggling Everton side to King Power Stadium this Sunday.
Leicester have won each of their last three league games with a 2-0 scoreline. The Toffees, meanwhile, find themselves 16th in the league table with just two wins in their last nine league games.
Everton did beat the Foxes in this fixture last season, but both teams have taken different paths since then. Leicester have a real chance of European qualification this season and will not want any complacency to set it for this weekend’s clash.
Leicester City Team News
The manager revealed that Jonny Evans is back in training and fit for this game. He should be back in the starting XI which makes Matthew James the only absentee from the squad for this game.
Here is the predicted lineup Rodgers might field for this tie:
Predicted Leicester City Lineup vs Everton
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel has been one of the most consistent players in his role in the league this season. He now has four clean sheets in a row and will believe he can extend it to give at King Power this weekend.
Evans should keep Wes Morgan out of the Leicester City Lineup, while Caglar Soyuncu will look to continue his good work at the back for The Foxes.
The full-back pairing of Ben Chilwell at left-back and Ricardo Pereira at right-back is easily one of the best in the league, and could pose real problems to a shaky Everton backline.
Midfield
Wilfried Ndidi is one of the first names on the team sheet for Rodgers and if all goes according to plan, he may not have too much to do, in terms of adding a defensive cover to the backline. He should keep his place in the Leicester City lineup.
James Maddison’s creativity will be crucial and he could be marked closely by the visitors. He and Youri Tielemans add a balance to the side that has been crucial to Leicester’s results so far this season.
Harvey Barnes has cemented a place in the side with some impressive performances this season. He will keep his place on the left flank while Ayoze Perez, who has finally found his feet in Leicester colours, will start on the right flank.
Attack
Jamie Vardy is the most in-form player in the league at the moment. He is the top goal scorer and be the biggest test yet for the likes of Mason Holgate and Yerry Mina at the back for Everton.
Here is how they might line up:
