Barcelona are interested in signing Juventus midfielder Emre Can, who has not featured much under Maurizio Sarri at the Italian club this season.
The German international has been tracked by many sides over the last few months, including the Catalan club.
According to Sport, Barcelona and PSG will fight it out to sign the 25-year-old, and both teams could make a move for him in the January transfer window.
The report states that Can could go for anywhere between €40 million and €50 million, despite playing just four games for Juventus this season.
Can joined Juventus from Liverpool last season and played a prominent role in his debut season in Italy. But the arrival of Maurizio Sarri at the club has resulted in Can playing just four times in the league, making just one start.
The German’s contract with Juventus expires in 2022, having signed a four-year deal when he joined the club in 2018.
Who will Emre Can replace in the Barcelona team?
The report states that Barcelona will sign Emre Can only if one of their current midfielders leaves the club in January. The player who is most likely going to leave the club is Ivan Rakitic, who is reportedly unhappy at his role at the club this season.
Rakitic was a key player for the Catalans for a long period of time, but the arrival of Arthur and Frenkie de Jong has restricted his game time significantly.
Can, who is a technically gifted player and is strong in attack and defence, could perhaps be a different option in midfield for Barcelona, especially in away games. The German is a strong tackler in midfield and has the work-rate to go up and down the pitch.
The former Bayern man is also very good in the air, which will be a bonus for Barcelona, who have been vulnerable in set-piece situations.
While he is not the direct replacement for Sergio Busquets in the Barcelona midfield, he can play a little ahead of the Spaniard and could be paired with Arthur or de Jong.
At 25 years of age, Can still has a lot to offer and would be a very good signing for Barcelona, who need a combative player like him in their lineup.
