Barcelona host Inter Milan on Wednesday night in the Champions League after getting an important win against Getafe over the weekend.
The Catalans’ win last weekend took them to within two points of arch-rivals Real Madrid, who top the table with 15 points.
Barcelona could only draw against Borussia Dortmund in the first match of the 2019-20 Champions League, and they will hope for a strong showing against their Italian opponents.
Ernesto Valverde has several players with injury concerns ahead of the game against Inter Milan.
Barcelona Injury News
Jordi Alba could make the bench for the Inter game, but it may be too soon to see him start the game.
Ousmane Dembélé and Ansu Fati are both doubts for the game against Inter as well.
We aren’t quite sure if Lionel Messi is ready yet to return to the team, but reports in Spain have indicated that the Argentine could make the squad for the game, having trained ahead of the clash.
Let’s take a look at the possible Barcelona lineup that manager Ernesto Valverde could put out:
Predicted Barcelona Lineup vs Inter Milan
Goalkeeper
Marc-André ter Stegen will start the game in goal for Barcelona and will hope to keep another clean sheet after not letting in any goals over the weekend against Getafe.
Defence
Gerard Pique and Clément Lenglet will continue at the back for Barcelona as Samuel Umtiti is yet to return from injury. Lenglet was sent off against Getafe late in the game.
Sergi Roberto started at right-back for Barcelona against Getafe, but we could see Nelson Semedo return to that position against Inter.
Junior Firpo should keep his place in the Barcelona lineup, with Alba not at 100% yet.
Midfield
Arthur, Frenkie de Jong, and Sergio Busquets started for Barcelona against Getafe and we could see that trio continue in midfield.
Busquets was taken off late in the game against Getafe to perhaps be fresh for the Inter game, and is often one of the first names in the Barcelona lineup.
The trio started the first Champions League game of the season against Dortmund.
Attack
Valverde may perhaps keep Messi on the bench, and start Carles Pérez on the right. Luis Suarez will start as the striker, while Antoine Griezmann will start on the left for Barcelona.
