The long two-week wait for Premier League action is finally down to a couple of days. Gameweek 9 is almost upon us and there are a number of exciting fixtures to look forward to.
While Liverpool’s trip to Old Trafford will steal all the limelight, Villa welcome Brighton and Chelsea host Newcastle United in two of the other interesting fixtures this weekend.
Manchester City travel to Selhurst Park in another game that will be close, but who are the players who could make an impact this weekend?
Here are five players to watch out for on Matchweek 9 of the Premier League:
Premier League Matchweek 9: 5 Players To Watch Out For
#1 Sadio Mane – Liverpool vs Manchester United
With two goals in his last two games for the Reds, Mane is the most in-form attacker at Liverpool at the moment. He was brilliant even against Brazil in the international break and also scored against United at Anfield last season.
Mane will fancy his chances against a shaky backline, and will certainly be the danger man for United in this game.
#2 Tammy Abraham – Chelsea vs Newcastle United
The forward has been brilliant leading the attack for Chelsea so far this season. He leads the scoring charts in the top flight with eight goals to his name, and has scored in the last two games for the club.
Lampard has stuck with Abraham even for the tougher games, but he will be tested against a well-drilled side set up by Steve Bruce.
The likes of Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar will also be hard to beat but Abraham’s form means he is certainly one to look out for this weekend.
#3 Raheem Sterling – Manchester City vs Crystal Palace
Sterling is easily one of the best wingers in world football at the moment. He scored twice and picked up an assist in England’s game against Bulgaria, and has registered three goals and two assists in the last four games for Manchester City.
He has five goals and two assists in nine games against the Eagles, and will believe that he can add to that record this weekend.
Palace are in decent form, winning back to back league games, but need to stop the former Liverpool attacker to try and take anything from this game.
#4 Callum Wilson – Bournemouth vs Norwich City
The 27-year old has been the best player for The Cherries this season, scoring five goals in eight games. He has three goals in the last two games at Dean Court and will be up against a Norwich City side that have lost four of their last five games.
Wilson’s movement and confidence in front of goal are crucial to Bournemouth’s chances of beating the Canaries and keeping him quiet will not be an easy task for Daniel Farke’s struggling backline.
#5 Wesley – Aston Villa vs Brighton
The 22-year old Brazilian striker has finally found his feet in England. In his last few games, he was simply unplayable, registering three goals and two assists and giving Villa a decent start to their top-flight campaign.
Wesley will be up against a Brighton side that has won just one of their last five league games and will look to get the better of the likes of Adam Webster and Lewis Dunk in Brighton’s backline. He is another player to look out for in this weekend’s Premier League action.
