Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has been a consistent performer for his side in the Premier League over the last few seasons, which over time has resulted in a number of teams taking a liking to him, including Arsenal, Everton and Paris Saint-Germain, who were keen on signing him in the summer but any move failed to materialise. Zaha, though, could potentially be for sale, if any club meets the price tag set by Palace.
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has weighed in on the topic suggesting (h/t Mirror) the player is too good to be playing for Crystal Palace at this stage of his career and many clubs will surely be interested in the services of the Ivory Coast international who had scored 10 and assisted 10 more in the league last season.
Zaha, with his directness and pace, could be a lethal player for most sides in the Premier League and is a player who could possibly improve when playing alongside better players. So, which teams could Zaha sign for in the Premier League? And should any of the top 6 team attempt to sign Zaha in January?
The Ivory Coast international could have several clubs vying for his signature, including a few of the top 6 sides. Everton could return with another bid if the team are struggling in January. Even though they have signed Iwobi, Silva will be desperate for a ‘crack’ player around whom he can set the team up. The question remains whether that player is Zaha or the manager takes a different route after the failure to land him in the summer.
Manchester City and Liverpool have several wide players, and Zaha may not be better than the options that Klopp and Guardiola have at their clubs.
Tottenham Hotspur could use a winger like Zaha, who is the kind of player that is missing in the Spurs ranks. But if they are to return to put in another bid for Juventus attacker Paulo Dybala, they may not make a move for Zaha.
Manchester United may not be a club that Zaha would want to join after his terrible first stint at the club, but he would be a tremendous addition to the team as his direct running would be a joy for Manchester United fans.
That leaves Chelsea and Arsenal, the two other sides in the top 6.
Both could become better sides with the addition of the winger. Christian Pulisic seems to be one of the first-choice wide men at Chelsea, and they will need someone to play on the opposite side. Willian and Pedro have not been consistent over the last few seasons, while Callum Hudson-Odoi will take a while to settle into this new-look Chelsea team.
Arsenal, who had made a bid for Zaha in the summer transfer window, would perhaps be the best club for Zaha at the moment as he would add depth to the Arsenal squad as well as pace and directness in the final third for the Gunners. The Gunners have a strong attack with Nicolas Pépé, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, as well as youngster Reiss Nelson, and the addition of Zaha would make the frontline a frightening one for opposition defences. If the Gunners are stuttering in the league in January, a huge signing like Zaha’s could give Unai Emery’s team a huge boost and impetus in the Top 4 race.
