The matchday two of the 2019-20 Premier League season was yet another exciting, action-packed few days of football, with some surprising results, and fantastic individual performances.
We saw a few great goals this past weekend; here are the top 3 from Premier League matchday 2:
#3 Douglas Luiz vs Bournemouth
Aston Villa succumbed to their second defeat of the Premier League, losing to Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth team, at home.
The Cherries took a quick two-goal lead thanks to a second-minute penalty from Joshua King and a first Premier League goal for Harry Wilson, who made his first start of the season for Bournemouth, scoring the goal in the 12th minute.
Villa dominated possession at home, as well as shots on goal, and they were finally rewarded for their efforts with a goal from new signing Douglas Luiz, who started his first game for Villa.
Luiz scored a beautiful goal from outside the box, when he placed the ball past Bournemouth keeper Aaron Ramsdale in the 71st minute.
#2 Sadio Mane vs Southampton
Sadio Mane returned to his former club Southampton on Saturday, and scored a vital goal, the first one of the match in first-half injury time.
Mane started alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in the Liverpool frontline against the Saints and scored a cracking goal from the edge of the box, going past a few Southampton defenders to bullet it past the outstretched arms of Saints goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

Mane also played a part in Liverpool’s second goal when he pounced on a mistake made by defender Jan Bednarek to pass it to Firmino, who duly put it into the back of the net.
#1 Teemu Pukki vs Newcastle United (1st goal)
Teemu Pukki has got off to a flyer in the Premier League for Norwich City, scoring a hat-trick against Newcastle United this past weekend after opening his scoring in the first game of the season against last year’s league runner’s up, Liverpool.
The Finnish striker, who ended last season as the top scorer of the Championship with 29 goals, already has four goals in two games in the Premier League and is tied with Raheem Sterling at the top of this year’s goal-scoring charts after two games.

Pukki’s first goal against Newcastle United was a well-taken goal, when he smashed the ball from almost the edge of the box, on the volley, into the top corner. Pukki ran the show for Norwich City against Newcastle, and is set to score loads of goals this season.
