Key Change In Midfield: 3-5-2 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur

Newcastle United have had a horrendous start to the 2019-20 Premier League season, and are one of four teams to have not got a single point from their two games. The Magpies lost to Norwich City, thanks to a Teemu Pukki hat-trick, and will now face another tough game this weekend, playing Tottenham away from home.

New manager Steve Bruce has not been able to get his attackers to score goals, while the defence was torn apart by Pukki last time around. Tottenham have won this fixture the last four times, which makes this an even more difficult task for Newcastle.

EARLY TEAM NEWS

Andy Carroll is unlikely to return to action till after the international break even though he is getting closer every day. DeAndre Yedlin, Florian Lejeune and Christian Atsu will miss the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Dwight Gayle, Jack Colback and Allan Saint-Maximin are doubts. Joelinton is also a minor doubt.

Goalkeeper

Despite conceding three goals in Newcastle’s last game against Norwich City, Martin Dubravka will start in goal for the Magpies against Tottenham.

Defence

Fabian Schär, Jamaal Lascelles, and Paul Dummett have been a part of the back three for the first two games of the season and they will most likely continue to start against Spurs. Ciaran Clark seems to be out-of-favour, while Federico Fernández has been on the bench. Florian Lejeune is still out with an injury and won’t make the squad for the game against Spurs.

Midfield

Emil Krafth and Matt Ritchie started as the wing-backs against Norwich City, and they may once again start for the club against Spurs. DeAndre Yedlin is yet another player who is injured which is a big blow for the Magpies.

Sean Longstaff was on the bench and was brought on in the second half against Norwich City as Bruce wants to ease him into the team after his serious injury. He could return to the side and play alongside Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey. Shelvey is the only Newcastle United player to have scored a goal this season, with his only goal coming late in the game against Norwich City.
