One of the big-money signings that did not happen in the summer transfer window was Wilfried Zaha’s move to Everton, with Crystal Palace rejecting several bids made by the Toffees. But, Zaha could move in the next transfer window in January to a much bigger club – Chelsea.
Following the close of the summer transfer window for Premier League sides, the Sun are reporting that Chelsea could place a bid for the Palace attacker if they can overturn their January transfer ban.
The report states that Chelsea could make a bid of around £80 million for the Ivory Coast international.
Everton were willing to make a huge bid of around worth £100 million which included cash and players in exchange, but Crystal Palace’s board were not happy at the way the Toffees had pursued Zaha.
Everton eventually signed Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and might no longer pursue Zaha in the next transfer window.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have not been able to sign any new players in the summer transfer window due to the transfer ban that was imposed on them.
Zaha would be a good replacement for Hazard at Chelsea
Zaha is an exciting player who, like Hazard, likes to drive at defences with his dribbling, speed and directness. The Crystal Palace winger could be a very good signing for Chelsea as the Blues have yet to sign a replacement for Hazard, and although not at the level of the Belgian, he has the ability to be one of Chelsea’s best players.
The 26-year-old has consistently delivered over the last few seasons for Palace, with last season being his best, as he scored 10 and assisted 10 in the 2018-19 season.
Zaha has the potential to be even better and could take his playing to the next level at Chelsea, playing with better quality players.
New signing Christian Pulisic could be a key player for Chelsea on the right-wing for many years, while Zaha could do the same on the left for the London club.
Zaha may have failed his first audition at a top club when he played for Manchester United, but the Ivorian has matured and delivered time and again in the Premier League, which means that the risk of him failing at Chelsea is much lesser.
Report say much bigger club, can’t be talking about Chelsea
And how has this “much bigger club” Chelsea done as regards league titles compared to Everton? That’s right this “much bigger club” has won it less often! Somebody needs to redefine bigger club, lol.
