Tottenham Hotspur have been a busy club this transfer window. They are now one of the most exciting projects in Europe and Mauricio Pochettino is looking to take advantage of their situation and sign some star players from around the continent.
He is ready to take advantage of Juventus’ need to sell this summer and has shown a concrete interest in Argentine superstar Paulo Dybala, claim reports from Football.London.
The story claims that Juve’s debt, thanks to their spending this summer, might force Maurizio Sarri to let Dybala leave the club. Italian news outfit Tuttosport (via Football.London) have also run a story claiming that Dybala has given his approval for a move to London.
Dybala And His Record
Having first made a name for himself in his time at Palermo, Dybala was snapped up by Juventus back in 2015 and the 25-year old has been one of the first names on the team sheet ever since.
He now has 57 goals in 128 Serie A appearances for Old Lady and is widely regarded as one of the best attackers in world football right now.
A support striker, who can play in a false-9 role or as a lone striker, Dybala is a technically gifted player with great vision and the will to work hard.
He is excellent with his set-piece delivery, is adept at mazing his way through even the best of defences but is also effective with his hold up play.
He is a decent finisher but is more effective creating chances for his side and alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain, he did pretty well to be a standout player for the Italian giants, despite facing the obvious hurdles.
Dybala also has 24 international caps and is one of the most established players in his role in the game at the moment.
Should Spurs Make A Move?
Though Pochettino has the likes of Lucas Moura, Harry Kane, Heung Min-Son, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, all of who can play attacking roles, Dybala is a certain upgrade on a few of those names and could walk into the first team next season.
The Argentine manager mostly uses a 4-2-3-1 system, with Harry Kane leading the line and if Dybala is played in the no.10 role, Spurs will turn into one of the most dangerous attacks in Europe.
Dybala can also act as a back-up to Harry Kane if the situation arises, which makes him a necessity for Pochettino this summer.
His price tag of £80m might be a hindrance, especially after Spurs’ acquisition of Tanguy Ndombele but if they have a chance to sign Dybala, there is no reason in the world that would justify them not going through with the deal.
