Defensive Stars To Start: 4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Sevilla

Liverpool kicked off their pre-season tour to the United States with a 2-3 loss against Jurgen Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund. But there was very little for The Reds to frown upon, as a number of squad players showed decent promise for the upcoming campaign.

They are back in action late this Sunday at Fenway Park, where they will face Spanish side Sevilla, who have won each of their last two pre-season games this summer. Klopp will be tempted to give his first-team players some minutes in this game and here is the predicted lineup he might field on the night.

Team News

Liverpool’s Brazilian duo Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino, along with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are all yet to join the group. Xherdan Shaqiri, Bobby Duncan and Naby Keita are out injured and remain the only other players missing for this game against Sevilla.

Adam Lallana missed the previous game with a dead foot and could well start this game in a team that should resemble The Reds that ended the game against Dortmund.

PREDICTED LIVERPOOL LINEUP VS SEVILLA (4-3-3)

Defence

Simon Mignolet still remains the only senior goalkeeper in Liverpool’s current squad and will continue his stint under the bar in this pre-season. Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren played together for the last half-hour against Dortmund and are expected to get an hour of the game on Sunday.

In his press conference before the game, the German manager claimed: “pretty much all the big guns will start tomorrow.” This will mean that both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will get their chance to start a game in Red for the first time after the Champions League final last season.

Midfield

Adam Lallana is expected to be back in action for Sunday and the experiment of playing him in a holding midfield role might continue against Sevilla. The former Southampton star has a lot of impressing to do, to try and claim a spot in the first team under Klopp next season.

Jordan Henderson, the Liverpool skipper, will look to get some action after only returning from a vacation a fortnight ago. He could be partnered with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has probably been the most impressive player for Liverpool this pre-season.

Attack

Brewster has now scored four goals in three games for the Reds, including an emphatic penalty in the 2-3 loss on Friday. He will get a chance to lead the line against Sevilla. Harry Wilson got a goal against the German side and could keep his place on the wing.

Klopp could choose to go with Ben Woodburn to complete his attack for this game.
