Liverpool’s tour to the United States has been less than impressive, as they have failed to win a single game so far. However, they are back in action this weekend, when they face Italian giants Napoli in yet another friendly on Sunday.
The Italian giants have won just one of their three pre-season games so far this summer, but will be up for the task when they face the European Champions at the Murrayfield Stadium.
With not too long left for the new campaign to kick-off, both teams will want to field their strongest sides for this game.
Liverpool Team News
The games comes a bit too early for the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker all of who are expected to be back with the team in the coming days.
Sadio Mane is on a break, and will return later in the month while Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne are nursing injuries and will also be missed along with Yasser Larouci, whose injury against Sevilla is not as bad as it first seemed.
Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-3-3) vs Napoli
Defence
Simon Mignolet will want to put the howler against Sporting behind him in this game. He will start under the bar and will have Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, Liverpool’s first choice centre-back pair, playing in front of him. Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip will surely come off the bench in the second half.
Injuries to Larouci and Clyne will mean that Klopp will be forced to start with Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back and Andrew Robertson at left-back for another game this pre-season.
Midfield
Fabinho and James Milner both played beyond the half in the game against the Portuguese giants, and could be used only as substitutes. This leaves skipper Jordan Henderson in the deeper midfield role.
Georginio Wijnaldum scored Liverpool’s second in the previous game and could keep his place in the midfield alongside Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has been the most impressive player for Liverpool this pre-season.
Attack
Harry Wilson has been linked with an exit recently, and Klopp will want to give his potential suitors another audition. He could play on the right-wing while Divock Origi, who has looked sharp in the last couple of games, could play on the other flank.
Rhian Brewster, who is expected to be a part of the senior side next season, should get another chance to lead the attack for The Reds.
