Liverpool winger Harry Wilson could be on the move once again this summer, it has been reported.
Bournemouth are in the race to secure his services, it has been claimed by Birmingham Mail. However, it will not be easy for the Cherries to make him sign on the dotted line.
The report states that Aston Villa, Wolves and Brighton & Hove Albion are also interested in securing his services. Interestingly, the Villans are the favourites to rope him into their ranks.
Eddie Howe’s side finished fourteenth in the Premier League standings during the previous campaign and they must beef up their ranks in order to move up the table.
Although they have already lured Jack Stacey and Lloyd Kelly to the Vitality Stadium this summer, signing someone like Wilson on loan will make sense given the consistency and quality he showed in his stint at Derby County.
What is Wilson’s current situation?
Jurgen Klopp has a plethora of stars at his disposal and Wilson will struggle to get regular game time if he stays at Anfield next season. Instead of stagnating himself, another loan move could be beneficial for him.
Last summer, he signed a new five-year deal with the Reds and they are in no hurry to strike him off their books. He spent last season on loan at Derby County and made a notable impact.
The 22-year-old plundered 16 goals and registered 4 assists in 43 Championship outings. He helped the Rams in reaching the play-off final at the Wembley Stadium where they eventually lost to Aston Villa.
If he manages to make the most of his loan spell once again, he could force Klopp to consider him seriously in the near future. A move to Howe’s camp makes sense as the natural step-up in terms of plying his trade in the top-flight after impressing in the Championship.
Why will he be a good signing by Howe?
Versatility is one of his strongest suits as he has the capability to ply his trade as a winger, central attacking midfielder as well as a central midfielder. He has an eye to score goals and create chances, which will come in handy for Bournemouth.
Eddie Howe prefers his team playing on the front foot and a creative force like Wilson will thrive in such a system. The manager backs youth and the development of players like Ryan Fraser and David Brooks bodes well for any possible deal that the Cherries can strike with Liverpool for their prized possession.
