Newcastle United preparing a move for Chelsea prodigy: A new start for the player beckons

Chelsea midfielder Kyle Scott has emerged as a subject of interest for Newcastle United with the latter on a quest to beef up their arsenal for the upcoming season.

It has been claimed by The Sun that Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is prepared to bring Scott to St. James’ Park this summer after the expiry of his contract with the Blues at the end of the month.

Impliedly, he would be a free agent and Benitez is apparently ready to take a chance on the gifted midfielder. However, there are doubts over his own managerial position as Benitez’s contract expires in a matter of weeks.

The Spaniard is yet to chalk a new deal with the Geordies and further, there is a likelihood of change in ownership of the club and the transfer moves might be put on hold until the uncertainty ceases to exist.

Kyle Scott: Profile

Scott joined the Blues from Southampton as a 10-year-old and made his debut for the Chelsea Under-18s when he was a 15-year-old. At the same age, he also paved his way into the UEFA Youth League.

Between 2013 and 2016, he was a part of the Chelsea youth side which had won three consecutive FA Youth Cups and two UEFA Youth League titles. He was then promoted to Chelsea’s first-team in 2017.

During the 2017-18 season, he made his debut for his current club after he came on as a substitute during his team’s 4-0 win over Hull City in the FA Cup and was also a part of the squad that faced Barcelona in the Champions League.

While former manager Antonio Conte gave him a few chances, he has been completely overlooked under the tutelage of the current manager Maurizio Sarri and his days at the Stamford Bridge seem to be numbered.

The 21-year-old was shipped out on loan to the Dutch second tier side Telstar where he spent the first half of the previous campaign wherein he scored a couple of goals in 14 league games. Despite his return in the second phase of the season, he didn’t get any noteworthy opportunity.

A new start for him at Newcastle United?

Newcastle United have been watching the young gun for a considerable amount of time. Scott is a versatile midfielder and is an appealing prospect and is someone who is desperate to make his presence felt in the Premier League.

Although a free transfer would mean that the Toon wouldn’t be troubled much financially to acquire his signature, he is a relatively unproven player and will not feature in the first team picture right away. But he will definitely get more exposure at Newcastle and with the right attitude and application in training, he will hope to get a fair chance at St.James’ Park. This will definitely be a new start for the midfielder and he has to grab the opportunity with both hands if he gets it eventually.
