Opinion – Man United and Barcelona among clubs that could be involved in big money transfers this summer

The 2019/20 transfer window is well and truly underway and it’s no less than a ’Game of Thrones’ finale. And as the famous TV show preaches — the summer is long and full of transfers.

From Chelsea’s transfer ban to Real Madrid’s spending spree and all other European giants in Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Bayern Munich looking to strengthen their squad, the fans are in for a roller coaster ride.

Meanwhile, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid have entered a dangerous territory over their star players with Neymar Jr. and Antoine Griezmann pushing for a move to Camp Nou.

Let’s look at three transfers that will make the highlight reel of the current summer transfer window.

Neymar Jr. to Barcelona

Ever since the Brazilian left the Catalan club back in 2017, the rumours of him returning to the Blaugrana camp haven’t stopped.

However, this time the train has left the rumour station and is looking much more serious, especially after recent comments from PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

The saga doesn’t end here with the latest news coming from the Paris camp that the Brazilian didn’t show up for the preseason training session and will be punished accordingly.

This further intensifies the 27-year-old’s return to reunite with Lionel Messi and co. after two disastrous seasons with the Ligue 1 club.

Paul Pogba to Real Madrid

When Mino Raiola is your agent, one thing is certain — chaos. Paul Pogba to Los Blancos seems like another such transfer with the midfielder and his agent publicly voicing their opinion of leaving Manchester United.

The Frenchman moved from Juventus to Old Trafford in the summer of 2016 and has never reached the ceiling he did during his days in Turin.

The 26-year-old could well be set for a move to Real Madrid, with the man in charge at Santiago Bernabeu, Zinedine Zidane a huge admirer of the World Cup winner.

Matthijs de Ligt to Juventus

Another saga with Mino Raiola at the epicentre of it all, Matthijs de Ligt has been the talk of the transfer market with Barcelona, PSG and Juventus all after the 19-year-old Dutch sensation.

Manchester United and Liverpool were also in the chase of the Ajax defender, but it’s those three that have not given up on the Netherlands International.

The Catalan club at one stage looked like the prime destination after agreeing on a deal with the Eredivisie club.

However, the Old Lady has entered through the back door and have emerged as the prime favourites to sign De Ligt after agreeing on a deal with the player.

According to the reports, the deal will be official soon after the Bianconeri agree to pay the asking price set by the Dutch club for their star teenager.
