6 Changes On The Cards: 4-4-2 Arsenal Predicted Lineup vs Burnley

Arsenal will look to finish their Premier League campaign on a positive note when they face Burnley in their final league game on Sunday.

The Gunners are winless in their last four league matches, three of which have ended in defeats. But, an impressive 4-2 midweek win over Valencia will give them a much-needed boost ahead of this contest.

Arsenal team news

Sead Kolasinac has reportedly picked up a knock and could miss out against Burnley. He could join Aaron Ramsey, Danny Welbeck, Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding in the list of absentees for the Gunners this weekend.

Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Burnley (4-4-2)

Defence

Kolasinac’s likely absence could force Unai Emery to revert to a four-man defence, with Nacho Monreal being deployed at left-back.

Stephan Lichtsteiner could return to the starting lineup, having impressed in the draw against Brighton & Hove Albion. He will replace Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the right-back position.

Emery could exercise the option of starting Konstantinos Mavrapanos in central defence. The Greek defender will replace Laurent Koscielny and will partner his compatriot Sokratis Papastathopoulos at the heart of Arsenal’s four-man backline.

Bernd Leno will return in goal, replacing cup goalkeeper Petr Cech. The German international will be hoping for an upturn in fortunes having conceded as many as nine goals in the last three matches.

Midfield

Lucas Torreira will likely be rested coming on the back of a strenuous win over Valencia in midweek. The Uruguayan international will be replaced by Matteo Guendouzi in central midfield.

Guendouzi will form the double-pivot alongside Granit Xhaka and the duo will be looking to impress after questionable performances in the past few league matches. They will also need to provide defensive cover for the backline if Emery does opt a traditional 4-4-2 formation.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be deployed in the right-midfield position, with Mesut Ozil likely to start on the bench. Alex Iwobi will also return and start on the opposite flank. The duo has struggled to create that many chances in recent matches but will look to end their campaign on a positive note.

Attack

Alexandre Lacazette will once again partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Arsenal look to return to winning ways in the league and keep the momentum going before their Europa League final.

These two attackers have been the only spark in an otherwise dire Arsenal attack this season, having a combined 48 goals between them in all competitions this season.

Therefore, it will be imperative for the Burnley defenders to prevent them from making any inroads into the penalty box if they are to salvage anything out of this game.
