Chelsea will face Leicester City in their final game of the Premier League season after having secured passage to the finals of the Europa League. A titanic two-legged tie culminated in a penalty-shootout win over Eintracht Frankfurt and now the Blues will have to face their domestic rivals Arsenal in the final in Baku.
Sarri’s men have already secured a top 4 finish in the league courtesy of a horrendous run of form for Arsenal and Manchester United and will be able to rotate players after an energy-sapping week.
CHELSEA TEAM NEWS
A fixture on Thursday means a couple of injury situations are still unclear to us.
Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are injury doubts even though the midfielder’s situation was deemed as not too serious by the manager.
N’Golo Kante (hamstring), Antonio Rudiger (knee) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (Achilles) remain out while Ethan Ampadu is also a doubt.
DEFENCE
Kepa Arrizabalaga will start in goal. He has had a decent first season at the Bridge and will look to cap off his domestic season with a clean sheet.
Davide Zappacosta might get a run in the right-back position if Cesar Azpilicueta is shifted to a centre-back position in light of the injury crisis at the back. David Luiz will partner him and will look to celebrate his new deal with a clean sheet.
Marcos Alonso will get a game at left-back.
MIDFIELD
Jorginho could have done with a breather but the injury situation might force Sarri to select him once more in the holding midfield role.
Ross Barkley will come into the side in midfield while Ruben Loftus-Cheek is expected to get fit in time with his substitution in the last game being attributed to cramps.
ATTACK
Having played 210 minutes over the last week alone, Eden Hazard might start on the bench. In that case, Pedro and Willian are favourites to start on the flanks while the one they will be flanking is Argentine Gonzalo Higuain who will look to cap off his current loan spell with Chelsea on a bright note.
